Ogun 2024 NSF: Rivers, Lagos Sweep Gold Medals in Weightlifting Event


The ongoing Ogun 2024 National Sports Festival, also known as the Gateway Games, has witnessed an impressive display of strength and talent in the weightlifting event. Rivers State and Lagos State dominated the competition, with Ruth Nyong and Omolola Onome Didih emerging as standout performers.

Women’s 49kg Category

  • Ruth Nyong (Rivers State): Won two gold medals in the snatch (75kg) and total lift (167kg), and a silver medal in the Clean & Jerk (92kg).
  • Ebele Chukwu Vanessa Agbah (Delta State): Claimed gold in the Clean & Jerk (93kg) and a silver medal in the total lift (164kg).
  • Quadri Zainab (Lagos): Won a silver medal in the snatch (72kg).
