Nigeria Increases Passport Fees for Domestic Applicants

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced a significant increase in the cost of obtaining international passports for applicants within the country, effective September 1, 2025.

In a statement released on Thursday by its Public Relations Officer, ACI AS Akinlabi, the new fee structure was outlined:

· The 32-page passport with a 5-year validity period will now cost N100,000.

· The 64-page passport with a 10-year validity period will now cost N200,000.

The NIS clarified that this review applies only to applications processed within Nigeria. For Nigerian citizens applying from the diaspora, the current fees will remain unchanged:

· $150 for the 32-page, 5-year passport

· $230 for the 64-page, 10-year passport

The service has not provided a specific reason for the upward review, which represents a substantial hike from the previous costs. The new policy takes effect at the start of next month.
