It’s another Saturday offering exciting football actions across leagues in Europe

 Liverpool vs Newcastle

Steve Bruce welcomed the fact that “the big six have took a slapping” over their duplicitous attempts to get even richer at the expense of the football pyramid and would enjoy landing another on Liverpool as he looks to secure Newcastle’s safety. Back-to-back wins have bolstered those prospects but Newcastle have won only one Premier league  game at Anfield – in April 1994 – and Liverpool have won more home games against them than any other club in the Premier League  era. Now that Champions League qualification is presumably important again to Liverpool’s owners, they will be looking to Jürgen Klopp’s team to provide a timely distraction.

Westham Vs Chelsea

West Ham and Chelsea duking it out for a place in the top four should easily be the game of the weekend (sorry Carabao Cup final) and could be one of the games of the season. The bigger picture of the European Super League fiasco is a grim one but small thanks should be paid to Chelsea for firing up their rivals as a win for West Ham would leapfrog them above the breakaway boys into fourth. Just thinking about the prospect raises a smile. The task for David Moyes is a tough one though without Declan Rice to martial a midfield loaded with quality on the other side of the ball. Jesse Lingard is in incredible form though and a goal or two from him could be enough with Chelsea scoring only once in their past three matches in all competitions

Real madrid vs Real Betis

Real Madrid will be looking to make it back-to-back wins in Spain’s top flight when they continue their domestic campaign at home to high-flying Real Betis on Saturday night.

Los Blancos, who are currently top of the La Liga table, will enter the match off the back of a 3-0 victory at Cadiz, while Betis occupy fifth position, level on points with sixth-placed Villarreal.

Betis will be looking to take advantage of any uncertainty in the Real Madrid ranks when they make the trip to the Spanish capital, and Manuel Pellegrini’s side have plenty to fight for this season.

Indeed, a record of 14 wins, seven draws and 11 defeats from 32 matches has seen them collect 49 points, leaving them in fifth position in the table, level on points with sixth-placed Villarreal.

Metz Vs PSG

Metz have impressed this season and come into this game in 9th position but the club are currently going through average form.

With just 2 points claimed in their last 15 chances of a Europa League place look over. Last weekend they were able to draw 0-0 with Reims but we would have to go back to the end of February for their last win which came against Bordeaux.

At home Metz have only won 5 games so far and their recent home form has been very poor with 4 losses here in a row. Their last defeat at home came against Lille in an encounter that finished 0-2.

PSG came back to beat Saint Etienne and spare some blushes as they won 3-2 in Paris. That result means that the reigning champions are just 1 point behind league leaders Lille with five games to go.

But there is pressure from all sides given that Monaco are just a point behind Mauricio Pochettino’s side. Indeed only 3 points separates 1st from 4th. PSG have won their last 2 games in a row but have lost 2 from their last five which has been unlike them.

On the road PSG have the 2nd best record in Ligue 1 and have won 35 points from a possible 48. This includes winning their last 5 games in a row.

Metz vs PSG: Head to Head

Last season PSG won this fixture 2-0.

PSG have won the last 10 meetings in a row.

PSG have scored 13 goals past Metz in the last four meetings.

Mainz Vs Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich can be crowned Bundesliga champions for the ninth successive season with top-scorer Robert Lewandowski returning from injury and eyeing the league’s all-time record of 40 goals in a single campaign.

Bayern are ten points clear at the top of the league and an away win at Mainz will guarantee the title with three games remaining.

Head coach Hansi Flick dropped a bombshell last weekend by saying he wants to be released from his contract at the end of the term and wants to sign off with the league title.

The Bavarians are boosted by the presence of Lewandowski, who has missed their last six games with a knee injury.

The Poland striker has netted 35 goals this season and is five short of Gerd Mueller’s all-time league record of 40 set in 1971/72.

PSV Vs Groningen

PSV has lost only one game so far in their recent nine attempts in Eredivisie. The host is at the second spot on the table and has leveled points with AZ.

The home team cannot afford to drop points with AZ cutting it close this season. They are on the back of a double win, including a 0-2 win on the road against Venlo last time out in their schedule.

Groningen has lost three of their recent five matches in the league. They will visit on the back of a 0-2 loss at home against Heerenveen in the previous encounter.

Surprisingly, their only win in that period came on the road against Venlo last time out. This will make things interesting at Philips Stadion, but the host is likely to have bragging rights.

PSV Eindhoven vs Groningen Head-to-head (h2h)

The home team has been unbeaten for the past 14 meetings.

The guest has only three wins from their last 20 matches.

Both teams have scored in four of their recent five fixtures.

Their previous encounter gave a 1-3 away win for PSV.

The host has lost at home only once since 1989 and that was in 2014.

Amidst this flurry of  actions across Europe, we have carefully picked a few matches in this Home/Away Wins ACCA backing the awesome favorites to triumph against their opponents.

These selections have been made based on available H2H stats and current forms of the selected teams.
