It’s another Saturday offering exciting football actions across leagues in Europe

 CHELSEA VS FULHAM

Chelsea will aim to cement their position in the top four of the Premier League table when they welcome Fulham to Stamford Bridge for another London derby in the Premier League on Saturday.

The Blues head into this tie following a 1-1 draw with Real Madrid in the Champions League, while Scott Parker’s side were denied all three points against Arsenal in heartbreaking fashion

Saturday’s game represents Chelsea’s second London derby in the same number of gameweeks after a Timo Werner strike propelled them to a 1-0 win over West Ham United – one which saw them open up a three-point gap on their top-four rivals with five games left to play, and the Blues are in no position to relinquish their grip on fourth spot now.

For all of their successful endeavours away from home, Chelsea have not quite been able to hack it on home soil recently, as they have won just one of their last four league games at Stamford Bridge and were held to a goalless draw by Brighton & Hove Albion on April 20.

However, with the Blues’ resilient defence shipping just 31 goals all season – the second-best defensive tally behind Manchester City – goal-shy Fulham could see any faint hopes of survival further dashed in the capital, only a couple of weeks after an equally crushing afternoon at the Emirates.

A Mason Mount winner saw Chelsea emerge victorious in a 1-0 win at Craven Cottage earlier in the season, and the Blues have not lost at home to the Cottagers since October 1979 – a run of 18 matches without defeat against their London rivals.

  CRYSTAL PALACE VS MANCHESTER CITY

In the midst of a Champions League semi-final battle with PSG, Pep Guardiola must be glad his City side have such a healthy lead as they head to Selhurst Park 10 points clear at the top and knowing victory could seal the title if Manchester United were then beaten by Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday. Guardiola will undoubtedly rotate his treble-chasing squad and his opposite number, Roy Hodgson, may be tempted to do likewise. Palace slipped to defeat after leading at Leicester on Monday and with only one win in seven are limping to the finish even if their relegation fears have all but dissipated

                         PSG VS LENS

The games are coming thick and fast for PSG now and this season is turning into quite a roller coaster for the club.

In midweek the champions were dealt a hammer blow as they lost 2-1 at home to Manchester City in the semi-final 1st leg of the Champions League and they could be exiting the competition now.

PSG are back to the league focus for the weekend and they should have little problems in beating Lens but then again this is a season where PSG have lost 8 times. The club are usually in 1st place and 15 points clear by now so for their standards this has been a poor season.

Mauricio Pochettino’s team are 1 point behind league leaders Lille but they also have Monaco and Lyon on their tails and Monaco are only one point behind PSG. Perhaps the good news for PSG is that they are in form and have won their last 3 games in a row. Last weekend they were able to beat Metz 3-1 away from home.

Lens are in 5th place and have had a fantastic season for them. They won’t be able to finish 4th because they are currently 11 points behind Lyon but they are on course for the qualifiers of the Europa League.

Lens are unbeaten in their last five games and they won their 15th game of the season last weekend as they beat Nimes. Away from home Lens actually have a slightly better record than at home and are also unbeaten in their last five games. They have lost just 4 times on the road so far.

PSG vs Lens: Head to Head

The teams haven’t played in Paris since 2015 when PSG won 4-1.

Earlier in the season Lens created a surprise when they won 1-0.

PSG have scored seven goals past Lens in the last 3 league meetings.

There is a 60% chance to see under 2.5 goals.

LILLE VS NICE

When Lille play this game late on Saturday evening they will know if PSG have won or not earlier in the day. But even if PSG failed to win in a way it doesn’t matter as the objective for Lille is to win.

If the script continues though PSG could be in 1st place and 2 points ahead of Lille before this kick off so they will need to win to regain the lead.

Lille were magnificent last weekend as they looked beat against Lyon but came back to win that game 3-2 and in the process probably finish off Lyon’s chances to win the league.

Lille are only 1 point above PSG and only 2 points in front of Monaco, a few bad results and they could easily drop down to 3rd place. They will be the favourites to win this game and at home they have won 9 from their 17 games. Six draws here has anchored the club though and one can only imagine how far out in front they would be had those been converted to wins.

Nice come into this match in 9th place and a European finish looks over for the club. They have found some form in the second half of the campaign and have won 3 of their last five games. Last weekend they were able to conquer Montpellier at home and win that game 3-1.

Away from home Nice have earned more points though their last match ended in a 2-0 defeat to bottom side Dijon, and that could have alarm bells ringing for this one. The club have picked up seven points from their last 15 on the road.

Lille vs Nice: Head to Head

Last season Lille won this fixture 4-0.

Earlier in the season in the reverse match the score finished 1-1.

There is a 70% chance to see both teams to score through their league meetings.

In the last 5 league meetings to take place at Lille, Nice has won just 1 match.

CROTONE VS INTER MILAN

Antonio Conte and his men can already open champagne as Inter Milan are all but new Serie A champions.

The Nerazzurri are 11 points clear at the top of the standings with just five games left to play. To add to the party, they travel to Stadio Ezio Scida to play the rock-bottomed and already relegated Crotone on Saturday afternoon. It will be the team’s 19th Scudetto trophy, the maiden since 2009/10 season.

Inter ended a two-draw run with a narrow 1-0 victory over Hellas Verona last weekend. I Nerazzurri struggled badly to break the deadlock on the occasion, but eventually made it count when Matteo Darmian found the back of the net 16 minutes from time.

Conte’s troops did not score two or more goals in any of the last four league outings. This trip to Crotone will give them a fantastic opportunity to change it as I Pitagorici have by far the worst defence in the entre division.

Crotone vs Inter Milan Head-to-head

Inter bagged as many as six goals when these two sides met each other in the first part of the season at the start of this year at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

Nerazzurri won three of five clashes against I Pitagorici.

Interestingly, three of the last four heads to head affairs saw goals scored at both ends.

AC MILAN VS BENEVENTO

Both Milan and Benevento will be desperate for points when they take on each other in the 34th round of Serie A on Saturday evening at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

The two teams will fight separate battles in the remaining five games of the season. I Rossoneri have put their top-four finish in jeopardize after losing back-to-back fixtures to Sassuolo and Lazio in the last two rounds. They are now level on points with the likes of Napoli and Juventus as just two of these three teams can make it to UEFA Champions League next season.

The visitors dropped down into the red zone after losing 2-4 to Udinese last time out. They took only one point from the last four Serie A affairs and are now lock on points with the likes of Torino and Cagliari in the battle for avoiding the drop to Serie B football.

AC Milan vs Benevento Head-to-head

The head to head stats is all square at one win, draw, and defeat for each of the sides.

Milan celebrated a 0-2 victory when they took on Gli Stregoni in the first part of the season.

None of the last two H2H games saw three or more goals scored.

REAL MADRID VS OSASUNA

The Los Blancos are placed second in the table at the moment, and are trailing two points behind toppers Atleti. Note that they are also level on points with arch-rivals Barca, however the Catalans have a fixture in hand.

As such, Zinedine Zidane’s men have no option but to go after wins in the remaining games if they are to have a shot at the title.

They have been in good form lately, and have been scoring at a consistent rate. They have also been performing well at home, and they have had the second-best defense in the competition after Atleti.

Meanwhile, Los Rojillos are placed 11th in the table, and have performed reasonably well in the past several weeks.

However, they have an extremely worrying h2h record against this rival. They have lost countless matches against this foe over the years, and have conceded in plenty during the while – be it at home or on the road.

Moreover, they also need to make up a deficit of nine points to get to the final European spot, and with just five games remaining to play, it seems like an unlikely objective.

By the looks of things, expect a Real Madrid victory this Saturday at the Alfredo di Stéfano Stadium.

Real Madrid vs Osasuna: Head-to-head (h2h)

The reverse encounter had ended in a goalless draw.

Before that, the Royal Whites were on a seven-game winning run.

They had also recorded 20 of the past 22 overall wins.

At home, they are on an 11-fixture winning streak.

The combined scorecard for the last six meetings at the home of the Los Blancos is 20-5, in their favor.

ELCHE VS ATLETICO MADRID

The Colchoneros are the toppers of the table at the moment, and they have been holding this first position for quite some time. In fact, at one point in the season, it was a foregone conclusion that they were on course to the title.

However, their lead was severely cut short in the last few weeks. As of now they have a lead of just two points over the second-placed Real Madrid, and a lead of two points over the third-placed Barca, who have a game in hand.

If Diego Simeone’s men need to have a shot at the title, they need to gain their momentum back, and they absolutely cannot afford to drop anymore points. They also need a huge win to get their confidence back.

And this upcoming encounter is a great opportunity to deliver such a victory. This weekend, they are pitted against the relegation-threatened Green-Striped Ones.

Not only have the toppers scored in plenty against this rival, but they also have a great h2h record against them over the years.

Confidently expect an Atletico Madrid victory this Saturday at the Estadio Manuel Martínez Valero.

Elche vs Atletico Madrid: Head-to-head (h2h)

The Colchoneros recorded a 3-1 win in the reverse encounter.

They had won six of the past seven clashes.

They had scored three or more goals in three of the last four meetings.

The guests have a 100% winning record in league fixtures at this stadium in the past decade.

It’s been 19 years since the hosts have won at this venue.

These selections have been made based on available H2H stats and current forms of the selected teams.
