The primary election of All Progressives Congress (APC), for the Ado-Odo Ota Federal Constituency of Ogun West did not hold on Friday as speculated by political jobbers due to security challenges.
While that of Yewa South/Ipokia and Yewa North/Imeko-Afon was decided, that of Ado-Odo/Ota could not hold at the proposed Venue, Alamuwa Grammar School in Ado-Odo, on the advice of the security agents that were on ground to monitor the exercise.
The primary election was to be contested by two major political gladiators/titans, the immediate past Commissioner for Forestry in Ogun State, Honourable Tunji Akinosi and Honourable Jimoh Ojugbele who’s seeking a fourth term in the Green Chamber
Others are former Acting General Manager Nigeria Port Authority, Engr. Musbau Alade Jimoh, FCA Abiola Bakare Onimokan, Princess Feyikemi Egbeyemi and Honourable Nuru Aina a two-time Ogun state House of Assembly member representing the good people of Ota State constituency.
However, on a hint that there could be a breakdown of law and order, with perhaps loss of lives and properties looking at the number of suspected sponsored thugs present at the election venue as against the security personnel on the ground, the primary election could not hold.
The total accredited delegates are just 80 but over two thousand persons were at Alamuwa Grammar School in Ado-Odo, so the security personnel had no choice but to brief the aspirants, party delegates and Party Returning Officer of the situation.
But an eye witness at the venue (name withheld) alleged that Honourable Jimoh Ojugbele, an aspirant orchestrated the ugly event at the Alamuwa Grammar School.
Ojugbele went as far as buying over the APC Party Returning Officer with a sum of One Million Naira. He also gave the Hunters Association in Ado-Ota a million Naira to cause mayhem with the sporadic shooting of live ammunition if the election results are not in his favour.
