Ogun 2024: RESURGENT TEAM DELTA LEADS MEDALS TABLE

Defending Champions of the National Sports Festival, Team Delta returned to the summit of the Medals table after claiming two gold medals in the swimming event through Duke Eniyekenumi in the Men’s 200 meters back stroke event and Akiayefa Timipame-ere in the women’s 200 meters individual medley event.


Team Delta which had trailed Team Bayelsa has now garnered 36 gold, 12 silver and 28 bronze medals to continue its quest for a ninth National Sports Festival triumph since 2000.


Team Bayelsa who are in the chase for a first ever National Sports Festival triumph are second with 32 gold, 14 silver and 15 bronze medals with Team Rivers in 3rd place after garnering 15 gold, 12 silver and 13 bronze medals while hosts Team Ogun are now 4th on the table after collecting 11 gold, 14 silver and 17 bronze medals.


1979 hosts Team Oyo are in 5th spot after picking 10 gold, 11 silver and 16 bronze medals while 4 time winners Team Lagos are in 6th place after claiming 9 gold, 10 silver and 18 bronze medals.


The games continues with variuos events taking place across several centers with athletics commencing today at the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abeokuta after the event was delayed due to an early morning rain.
